President Rajapakse should decide between his Tamil and Sinhala partners in the UPFA -Mano Ganesan

President Mahinda Rajapakse’s alliance in the ruling UPFA are at odds against each other. Minister Douglas Devananda of EPDP and Eastern PC chief minister Chandrakanthan Pillayan of TMVP are demanding powers to the PCs beyond what is prescribed by the 13th amendment of the constitution. But Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka of JHU and Vimal Weerawansa of the NFF are visibly talking in the state media against 13th amendment in the original form. We call upon the president Mahinda Rajapakse to clarify his stand on the 13th amendment. We also demand responses from Ministers Douglas Devananda, Arumugan Thondaman, P. Chandrasekaran, chief minister Chandrakanthan, Tamil leaders Anandasankari and Siddharthan who request Tamil votes to the president. Since the war is over now, there is no more time left for national leaders to play election politics on the political solution to the ethnic question, said Democratic Peoples Front (DPF) leader Mano Ganesan MP in a media release issued from his media office. Ganesan says further in the release,
UPFA partners Champika Ranawaka and Vimal Weerawansa are finding fault with common opposition candidate Sarath Fonseka for publicly accepting the political reality to go beyond 13th Amendment as the solution to the national ethnic question. Vimal Weerawansa even sheds tears for his former party, JVP on this and calls it a contradiction. But however there is no contradiction on this between UNF and JVP. It is because what is prevailing between UNF and JVP is only a single point electoral understanding in respect of abolition of the executive presidency. There is no political alliance between UNF and JVP. Both entities are very clear on this.
The contradiction is very much within the ruling UPFA. EPDP leader Minister Douglas Devananda and TMVP leader and Eastern chief minster Chandrakanthan are demanding additional powers to the PCs. This is what is called 13th plus. This is what president Mahinda Rajapakse went to India and promised prime minister Manmohan Singh. We are aware of this. But today both India and President have forgotten this fact. But Tamil people have not forgotten this fact.

The Tamil and Sinhala partners of president Mahinda Rajapakse are against each other. Tamil people are demanding to know the stand of President Mahinda Rajapakse in respect of the contradicting stands of his Tamil and Sinhala allies. President who is also going to be the presidential candidate of the UPFA need to come open on his political solution formula for the national ethnic issue before the presidential nominations. The Tamil and the peace loving people of this country demand to know the position of the President who is going to be the presidential candidate on the 13th amendment. Tamil people also demand responses from Those Tamil parties and politicians who request Tamil votes for the president. We demand responses from Ministers Douglas Devananda, Arumugan Thondaman, P. Chandrasekaran, chief minister Chandrakanthan, Tamil leaders Anandasankari and Siddharthan. Tamil people are not going to cast their votes closing their eyes. We will vote after classy classifications of what is in offer as political solution. Since the war is over now, there is no more time left for national leaders to play election politics on the political solution to the ethnic question.

Mano, why don't you ask a pig to fly rather than asking MR to give a clarification on hios stand about any of the issues? Did the fellow had any unambigious agenda at the lasy Presidential poll? It was the LTTE and and culvert of Wimal, who makes Prof. Gobbles look like a childin the trade made him the President, wouldn't you agree with me?

Well said Hon. Mano Ganeshan. The UNF backed presidential candidate is NOT clear about the minority issues and the stand the UNF or General (retired) Sarath Fonseka is confined to. They are also speaking about - "beyond the 13th., amendment" which means that it is the 17th., amendment that they will give due consideration to. This is a deception, not a suggestion to give a resolution to the minority issues. The UNF wants the 17th., amendment only to use it to create a constitutional council/assembly of the parliament temporarily for one sitting and then change the constitution so that they can create the Executive Prime Minister’s Office. Then they plan to appoint Ranil as the executive PM. This is total deception. On the contrary MR is more clear with the 13th., and 17th. MR is willing to go more than that on a development based strategy plan too. Minority Tamils and Muslims should support MR to win and then firmly negotiate the resolutions. The political scenario is not the same as during pre-May 17th.,(2009) situation. We do not need International players to facilitate or mediate our negotiations. We should begin to trust the majority and set the stage for concrete and truthful negotiations based on Rights, Honour, Political brokerage representation and Fairness. I am sure MR is the best President for such an eventful resolution. The minorities have lost 30 long years to find such a political resolution and the Tamil, community has failed even with an arms struggle. Sad, the Muslim minority community have been herded without NO political goal, only wage suggestions, by selfish persons who have provided the "cream of the cake" in terms of Diplomatic postings, Chairmanship, High Posts, Delegate positions, Directorships, Foreign trips and other perks to their "hangers on" and kith and kin at the cost of the nearly 820,000 Muslim vote bank which they have been representing in recent times. Approximately 230,000 votes are from the North Eastern and Eastern provinces. Some have bargained these votes for Ministerial, Deputy Ministerial and Project Ministerial positions with the various governments that have held power. It is the turn of the masses and specially the youth now. We cannot be hanging around for another 30 years, listening to the same story. General leaves for India at Indian Govt.’s special invitation

General Sarath Fonseka after his announcement as the common candidate for the upcoming Presidential elections, he left for India this morning (03 ).

The General had gone to India on a special invitation from the Indian Govt, reports say. He is scheduled to be back in SL to attend the UNP special convention at Nawaloka playground ,Welisara on the 5th.


At his maiden Press briefing after his announcement as the Presidential candidate on 29th , he spoke very highly of his close and cordial relations with India , adding that they are thousand fold strong.. He also emphasized that India is a special neighbor of SL.

Rajapakse family which is now the richest in Asia is striving ,next to become the richest in the World – Ranil

In SL , presently, the patriots are Mhainda Rajapkse, Basil rajapkse, Chamal rajapkse , Gotabaya rajapkse , Sahshindra Rajapakse and K.P Rajapakse. The richest in the Asian region is Rajapakse family Co. Next they are striving to enter among the clan of the richest families in the World. After plundering the wealth of the nation and collecting ten % commission on every project , now this Rajapakse family Co. is trying to appropriate the assets of the LTTE, their International businesses and Bank funds.

Because KP knows all the information of the LTTE assets and their funds , the Govt. is giving him the maximum of luxury and pampering him to the utmost ,and has allowed him to lead a free life with his friends .


If the Govt . has searched and found the LTTE assets and its funds , the Govt. is duty bound to immediately hand them over to the country. While The Central Bank Governor is silent on this ., P.B. Jayasundara was appointed as Treasury secretary by dubious methods in order to conceal all these facts , Ranil observed.

Giving a second term to Executive Presidency is like creating a second Frankenstein monster –Rauf Hakeem

Rauff Hakeem M.P. and leader of the SLMC addressing a conference of SLMC M.Ps and supporters on ‘Constitution and harmonious living’ at Colombo Taj Hotel, said, a second term of Executive Presidency is most ominous and dangerous. Our past experience is itself proof. Hence, we must now exploit the present opportunity to change this situation, he added.

If we are to support the Muslim Congress common candidate, this perspective should clearly be understood, Hakeem stated. SLMC is working towards getting at least 80 % of the Muslim votes for Fonseka. The SLMC will also be working to get the Tamil votes too for him while combating the attempts to plunder their votes by the ruling party. In this connection all supporters have been intimated, he asserted.

The view that Rajapakse rule cannot be toppled for six generations after the war was won, has undergone a complete turnabout. Now the situation is such he is hard put even to stay on for the next term, let alone the hopes of ruling for generation to generation.
By this Executive Presidency, there are 25 elected UNP MPs, 12 JVP MPs and 6 SLMC MPs. But the very party which introduced the Executive Presidency is opposed to this system now. The JVP too has endorsed this stand, Hakeem pinpointed.

The leaders of the Tamil political parties are opposed to Mahinda Rajapakse and Sarath Fonseka, yet the Tamil population want a change of Govt. The SLMC hopes to hold discussions with the Tamil parties in the near future and convince them with a view to making the Common candidate emerge victorious, Hakeem observed.

Wijedasa Rajapakse distances himself from corrupt Rajapakses –joins UNP today

UPFA National list M.P. and President’s Counsel Wijedasa Rajapakse received UNP membership today (02) from the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It was during the time of Wijedasa Rajapakse when he was the Chairman of the COPE Committee investigating into bribery corruption and wastages in the Govt. sector, he made a report exposing tax frauds amounting to Rs. 33,500 million, the biggest tax fraud in SL’s history. The report also revealed the multi million rupee embezzlements and public property misappropriations during the period of those UNPers who crossed over to the Govt. to grab portfolios.

Owing to these exposures he made, he was subjected to harassment and embarrassment from those in the top places in the Govt. eventuating in his tendering his resignation from the original appointment, Minister of State Banks development and functioning as an independent M.P.

Mr. Rajapakse was appointed as the Maharagama UNP Organizer.

Four including Ministers to quit Govt. and support General

Four including Ministers and an MP who did proud for SL in the sporting field are to quit the Govt. ranks and are ready to support Gneeral Sarath Fonseka for the upcoming elections.

It is learnt that the President who was having discussions with several persons at the Temple Trees yesterday night (2) , had given out the names of the persons with much disappointment. It is also reported that those in high places of the Govt. have been instructed to closely monitor their activities . movements and their phone call conversations.


Sources also say that Kurunegala Municipal Council Deputy Mayor Asoka Abeysinghe is to join the UNP in the next few days, and that he has met UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday night (2).

Rumors are doing the rounds that Kurunegala District UNP M.P. is to join the Govt. In that event Abeysinghe has been promised immediate appointment as the Organizer for that District ,the UNP M P now represents.

Vimukthi to contest under UNF against Basil at Gampaha

Speculations are rife in the political circles that Former President Chandrika Kumaratunge’s son Vimukthi is to contest at Gampaha under the UNF ticket for the forthcoming general elections,

Sources say , Vimukthi Kumaratunge will be contesting against Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapakse at the Gampaha District at the next General elections.

Vimukthi who is living in UK is working as a Veterinary Doctor.
Tissa Attanayake answering queries on this said, so far there had been no such requests from the side of Kumaratunge to contest under the UNF ticket. But, in politics anything can happen. He cannot predict what is in store for the future.
