As Govt. gets increasingly jittery over elections, Opposition gets increasingly stronger and makes headway

SLFP (M) Leader Mangala Samaraweera addressing a weekly news conference yesterday (20) said, the Opposition political parties are making headway in view of the elections regardless of whether it is the Presidential or General elections which will be held first .
The President and the Govt. who were so vociferous about elections have however undergone a sudden turn about, and are dumbfounded now. . The President has made so many promises on this , but like his election promises which never realize , he is going on postponing about the election announcement, he added.


The President is exploiting the valor of our war Heroes and the victory they won to glorify himself. All what is seen on the Roads now are only the portraits and Hoardings of the President . The War heroes are obliterated . It is not a shameless thing for this Govt. which is accustomed to forgetting its election promises and pledges after winning elections ,to forget the War heroes after they have sacrificed and won the war for the country , he noted.


The UNF will announce its common candidate after the Govt. announces about the Presidential elections , Samaraweera asserted.
