UPFA starts Presidential election campaign on bad omen – Pillayan refuses support for Mahinda accused of false promises as always

Even before the Presidential elections campaign had got into full swing , (although President’s photos are of course ubiquitous ) the UPFA , the ruling party had got stuck in the mud with its Eastern province Ally , the TMVP, the largest Tamil political party in the East categorically stating that it will not extend its support to President Rajapakse at the upcoming Presidential elections.

13 of the 15 members of the politburo of the TMVP led by Pillayan had taken this decision after three long hours of deliberation at its meeting held on the 27th. Their grouse is that the President has not fulfilled the promises of giving jobs to the people in the East , and the Chief Minister Pillayan has not been allowed to do any development work there .
