Health Ministry bungling, Health Minister dozing, patients dying – whither SL’s national health?

It is a cruel irony that it is while SL ‘s Health Ministry is headed by a Minister who is the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the country is faced with the worst health hazards and disasters claiming even lives of innocent children , some in the prime of their lives .

The latest in the series of death , disease and disaster inundating the Health sector is the contracting of A/H1n1 virus by five Doctors of the Karapitiya teaching Hospital ICU. They have also complained about the lack of a separate ward for treatment .

The Doctors have warned that if remedial action is not taken they would refrain from working
