Gen. Fonseka speaks out his heart and mind – victory won by Forces none else can rob that credit

General Sarath Fonseka who retired last week from the post of Chief of Defense staff, in a letter to the security Forces personnel had categorically stated that credit for war victory shall belong to the Forces and himself, and none other. ‘No matter what insults are poured on us by interested quarters to undermine our victory, and our efforts to liberate the motherland, we are the real victors’, he emphasized
Speaking out his heart and mind, he said his security was reduced to 25 notwithstanding his request for hundred in the face of the dire threats he is facing as a war hero. I have been asked from the top to quit the official residence . In my attempts to find suitable accommodation, I had been pushed out. This is the eventual plight we are plunged into who made supreme sacrifices for the motherland.
All of you maintained your dignity and fought as Professional soldiers. The Army maintained these qualities without relenting... No one should be allowed to insult the Army or politicize it, the letter added...
General Fonseka , had also clearly stated in the letter that he would commit himself to restoring Democracy , social justice, and ethnic harmony in SL despite the many obstacles he may confront in the process.
