War Hero’s woe– I am treated like an outsider ;State has acted arbitrarily and capriciously – states in his FR petition

In a FR (fundamental rights) petition filed by the former Chief of Defense staff (CDS) Gen. Fonseka in the SC had complained that following his resignation from the post of CDS he is facing grave threats to his life as his security has been drastically reduced. He has cited Defense secretary Gotabaya, , the Amy and Police Chiefs , the acting Chief of Defense staff and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge as the respondents.
Further , he had stated he was a victim of a LTTE suicide attack , though his life was narrowly saved. Despite the LTTE being defeated ,he is continuing to be under threats for the rest of his life much more than others , when compared with the threats faced by other military officers who retired , and politicians including Secretary to the Defense Ministry.

His present security detail of just 62 security personnel and three vehicles was a drastic reduction from what he had earlier. The General claimed that his FR had been violated , and both the defense secretary and the State had acted capriciously and arbitrarily .He also requested an interim order to provide adequate security to him until the final determination by Court.

He also asked Court to give a directive to Gotabaya to hand over the deed to the land gifted to him after he won the war, and he be provided with secured quarters.
